Maja Daniels ‘Monette & Mady’
This is the best series I’ve seen in a while. Daniels comments on how he forever saw Monette and her identical twin Mady around town, for which eventually the courage was gathered to propose a series. The images appear quite surreal in their consturction, possibly due to the repetition within the frame. The series is consturcted as if the pair are on a high fashion shoot. Questions of photoshop manipulation were circling, before my reading of the project information.
Saw this in the National Portrait Gallery. The holding each others hands is my punctum, really like this image.

The very thing we crave can turn into the one thing that makes you toss and turn and long. I am currently at the stage that I can’t sleep easily, either the pillows are wrong, the duvet isn’t covering my feet, I am wearing the wrong thing or quite simply there is no one next to me, holding me into slumber. Not to mention I am thinking about college one day in. It’s going to be a good year but it will mean many restless nights.
